Norway is killing it in disaster movies. After “The Wave” and the sequel “The Quake,” we now have “The Tunnel,” Daylight (1996), which I watched in the theater, amazed at the time. They replaced the water with smoke, which is just as adorable… I watched it with my 10-year-old goddaughter, who loves disaster/suspense movies like her godmother, and we were engrossed in rooting for the survival of the people, who were gasping for air, absorbed by the atmosphere of tension and anguish. Another excellent, tense and intense production.
On Christmas Eve in Norway, a truck ends up crashing inside a kilometer-long tunnel. This tunnel has no emergency exits, and when an explosion occurs, local authorities must stand out to save the hundreds of people trapped there from the lethal gases and lack of oxygen inside. One of these people is Elise, the daughter of one of the firefighters.
