July 1944, the Liberation battles are raging. Nine-year-old Patrick escapes the bombings and flees his Normandy orphanage to make his way to Paris. He is taken in by Kléber Demartin, a former WWI veteran, widower, and childless. The young boy and the old man must learn to adapt to each other in a world that's becoming increasingly harsh and changing rapidly.
