The family of the professor, his wife and daughter Pavla is staying with a high school student. The young man stirs up the long-standing, cold family environment, where there are no warm relations between the relatives. He tries to show the girl that she has the right to her own, joyful, full life. But her mother is scarred by her own experiences, unable to forgive her husband for his long-ago mistake, or to give her own daughter the right to happiness. Yet the young man manages to provoke in the girl a desire for action.
