Il y a bien longtemps, les hommes et les lions vivaient en paix et étaient alliés. Ils se protégeaient mutuellement. Mais au fil du temps, les hommes oublièrent leur accord et finalement, les lions firent de même. Ce sont là les dernières paroles que le grand-père de Lionel lui a murmurées avant de mourir, dans leur village en Afrique. Lionel est un garçon de 11 ans qui vit heureux en Suisse avec sa mère et son beau-père. During a school trip to the zoo, Lionel is irresistibly attracted to an old lion lying in a cage. The lion starts to communicate with him and asks him to find a way to set him free in order to go back to Africa. With the help of his best friend Federico and of his classmates, Lionel is determined to keep his promise.
