(CASTELLANO) Hay películas que te acompañan toda la vida. Clerks no solo me marcó, es que la tengo en mi altar personal junto a El retorno del rey y El imperio contraataca. La vi en los Ideal, en versión original, y me reí como pocas veces en el cine. Salí alucinado con el guion, con la música que encajaba como un guante, con esos diálogos rápidos, llenos de ironía, que hablaban sin tapujos de todo lo que nadie se atrevía a decir. ¿Y esa frase de Dante, repetida con resignación existencial? “I’m not even supposed to be here today!” Es imposible no hacerla tuya después de verla. La película costó 25.000$, que Kevin Smith sacó del dinero del seguro tras perder su coche por unas inundaciones en Nueva Jersey. Un detalle más que hace que todo esto parezca todavía más milagroso. Con nada en las manos, Smith rodó una joya generacional, con una cámara fija, blanco y negro y un puñado de colegas que lo dieron todo. Desde el partido de hockey en el tejado hasta el cliente que examina la leche como si buscara un diamante, pasando por el vendedor de chicles conspiranoico, el funeral surrealista o ese cliente preguntando si todo cuesta un dólar… cada escena es un pequeño clásico. Pero también está la parte amarga, como cuando Veronica le suelta a Dante con cuántos tíos ha estado. Es una bofetada que te deja con la sonrisa congelada. Porque sí, Clerks es divertida, pero también habla de estancamiento, de frustración, de vidas que no van a ninguna parte. Es directa, irreverente, sencilla, humana y, sobre todo, auténtica. Una película que demuestra que no necesitas millones para hacer historia. Solo hace falta tener algo que decir, y la valentía de decirlo sin filtros. I walked out amazed by the script, by the music that fit every scene like a glove, and by the fast-paced, brutally honest, irony-soaked dialogue that dared to say what no one else did. The film cost $25,000 — money Kevin Smith got from his car insurance after his car was lost in a flood in New Jersey. Just another detail that makes the whole thing feel even more like a miracle. With nothing but a fixed camera, black and white film, and a bunch of friends giving it their all, Smith created a generational gem. From the rooftop hockey game to the customer inspecting every carton of milk like it’s a diamond, the conspiracy-theorist gum rep, the surreal funeral, or the guy who keeps asking if everything costs a dollar... every scene is a tiny classic. And then there’s the gut-punch, like when Veronica tells Dante how many guys she’s been with — a moment that freezes the smile right off your face. Because yes, Clerks is hilarious, but it also talks about being stuck, about frustration, about lives going nowhere. It’s raw, irreverent, simple, human, and — above all — authentic. A film that proves you don’t need millions to make history. You just need something to say, and the guts to say it without holding back.
