(CASTELLANO) Desaparecido a medianoche se deja ver, pero cuesta encontrar razones para recomendarla con entusiasmo. Es uno de esos thrillers que prometen misterio, atmósfera y tensión, pero que a medida que avanzan van perdiendo fuerza hasta quedarse en algo bastante más plano de lo que parecía al principio. Hay ideas interesantes, sí, pero no terminan de cuajar. El mayor punto a favor es Winona Ryder. Está claramente por encima del material que tiene entre manos y sostiene la película durante buena parte del metraje. Hay verdad en su interpretación, matices y una presencia que mantiene el interés incluso cuando la historia empieza a tambalearse. Sin ella, probablemente sería una experiencia mucho más olvidable. El problema principal está en el guion y en el tono. La película parece no tener del todo claro qué quiere ser: thriller psicológico, misterio íntimo, drama generacional… Todo está ahí, pero mezclado de forma poco equilibrada. Algunas decisiones narrativas resultan confusas, otras previsibles, y el conjunto acaba dando la sensación de estar dando vueltas sobre sí mismo sin avanzar con verdadera convicción. A nivel de montaje y planteamiento visual hay momentos logrados, incluso sugerentes. Se intuye una voluntad de jugar con la incomodidad y con la idea de que algo no encaja, pero ese malestar no se transforma en una tensión sostenida. La intriga se diluye y lo que debería inquietar acaba dejando bastante frío. El tramo final tampoco ayuda. Más que cerrar, explica; y al hacerlo, resta misterio en lugar de sumar impacto. Es de esas películas que parecen más interesantes mientras plantean preguntas que cuando intentan responderlas. Cuando llegan los créditos, queda la sensación de que había algo ahí… pero no lo suficiente. En resumen, Desaparecido a medianoche no es un desastre, pero tampoco una propuesta especialmente sólida. Tiene una buena actriz, algunas ideas sugerentes y momentos puntuales que funcionan, pero en conjunto se queda corta. Se puede ver sin sufrir, pero probablemente se olvide rápido. Some narrative choices feel confusing, others predictable, and the overall impression is of a story circling itself without real conviction. Visually and structurally, there are moments that work, even feel suggestive. You sense an intention to create discomfort and the idea that something isn’t quite right, but that unease never turns into sustained tension. The intrigue fades, and what should unsettle ends up feeling strangely inert. The final stretch doesn’t help either. Rather than closing things off, it explains too much, draining the mystery instead of adding impact. It’s one of those films that feels more interesting while posing questions than when trying to answer them. When the credits roll, there’s a sense that there was something there… just not enough. In short, Gone in the Night isn’t a disaster, but it’s far from a solid recommendation. A strong lead performance, a few intriguing ideas, and scattered effective moments can’t quite save a film that ultimately falls short and fades quickly from memory.
