"Pan Huňáček lives with his two sons, unemployed Stand and schoolboy Venoušek, and his sister-in-law Klotylda, the only one in the family with a job. Venoušek brings a friend, apprentice shoemaker Zrzka, to their apartment. Zrzka fears his master after failing to hand in new boots. Together, they discover an old trunk belonging to Venoušek's aunt, hoping to uncover the mystery of her past love.
