A young boarding school student, with an irresistible vocation for theater, escapes the institution and, during her getaway, has a brief encounter with a young man who later turns out to be a playwright. The young woman takes refuge at her grandfather's house, where her aunt, a spinster, disapproves of her niece's actions and decides to commit her to an asylum, believing her to be mad. However, the blonde young woman escapes once more and manages to audition for the theatrical production being mounted by the young man she met during her escape.
