Rae is discharged from psychiatric hospital. Back in the real world, all she wants is to be a normal teenager, but it's not that simple.

Rae is determined to catch up with the rest of the gang in terms of her sexual experience, but worries her weight will stop her from getting a boyfriend. Then one of the boys in the gang asks her out.

Rae and Chloe's friendship becomes difficult when Rae discovers who Chloe is secretly dating. Things start to get rocky and Rae finds herself drawn back to her old patterns of destructive behaviour.

Rae is falling in love but doesn't know whether to admit it to the object of her desires. And Kester pushes Rae to examine what triggered her self-harming.

Rae and Chloe battle it out in the fight for Finn's affections, but when Rae's mum prevents her from going to a rave with the rest of the gang, Rae thinks it's game over.

Rae is in a dark place following Tix's deterioration and an argument with Chloe. To make matters worse, she loses her diary and begins to see her world crashing down around her.

Rae's still madly in love with Finn, but will her insecurities sabotage their relationship before it's even begun? Meanwhile, Kester encourages her to face her demons and finally confront the truth about what happened to Tix.

The long hot summer is over and Rae is starting her first year at sixth form college. She's determined that things will be different this year, but she quickly starts to struggle under the pressure.

Without Finn in her life, Rae feels lonely in college and struggles to make friends. When the chance comes to be a part of the cool gang, she has to decide how far she'll go to fit in.

As Rae grows closer to Liam, his new girlfriend Amy starts getting suspicious and threatening towards her. Meanwhile, Archie is struggling to cope after Rae outed him to Lois.

Rae is desperate to be treated like an adult, so she's staying out late and pushing the boundaries at home. But when she starts to hang out with a group of older lads, things turn nasty.

Rae is furious when it looks like Chloe is going to let her down again, but a surprise discovery forces her to see things through Chloe's eyes for a change.

It is a very dark period of Rae's life without her friends and mum being around for support. She's managed to alienate everybody and now a crisis with Chloe leaves her feeling helpless.

It's June 1998. Rae Earl has life as a teenager nailed, despite a disastrous university interview. However, change is on the horizon as the gang grows up...

Rae takes drastic action that could jeopardise her future when Chloe's parents ban her from seeing their daughter in hospital.

In the final episode, Rae finds herself back in hospital struggling to manage her illness and some brutal home truths from Katie Springer.
