The Patient

**Synopsis:**
The story unfolds from the documentary "Places the Sun Can't Reach," where protagonist Fang Si Pei (Chen Zi Ying) recounts her ordeal to the host. Years ago, she was a happy, soon-to-be bride, but a sudden incident plunged her into despair. During her wedding preparations, a disagreement with her fiancé, Zhu Jia Yao (Zhuang Ke Bi), led her to return home alone. In a dark alley, she was sexually assaulted by Liu Yuan Sheng (Ye Liang Cai), who was later revealed to be HIV positive.
Si Pei and Jia Yao decide to keep the incident from their families and continue their lives as if nothing happened. Si Pei's younger sister, Si Min (Mei Jing Xuan), accidentally discovers the truth and tries to intervene, but only makes matters worse. When Si Min tells their father, Fang Zhi Hong (Chen Pei Jiang), and brother, Si Qi (Pan Qian Le), the family is heartbroken but respects Si Pei's wishes to keep it a secret.
Soon after, Jia Yao's father suffers a stroke, and Si Pei learns that Liu Yuan Sheng has been arrested and is HIV positive. After a nerve-wracking test, Si Pei confirms she has contracted HIV.
The revelation challenges Si Pei and Jia Yao's relationship. Jia Yao's parents grow distant due to their fear of the disease, and Si Min accidentally leaks Si Pei's condition, sparking a wave of online discrimination. Si Pei's career and love life suffer, and she begins to resent the labels imposed on her. After encountering Liu Yuan Sheng again, she even considers taking revenge on his family...
The series, with its restrained and composed cinematography, explores the prejudices and redemption within human nature, sparking widespread discussions about HIV discrimination in Malaysian society after its broadcast.
