Pan Renyi, a traditional photographer, runs the last remaining branch of the once-thriving Peace Photography Studio, founded 80 years ago. His daughter, Pan Zejia, assists him, feeling indebted after he helped her settle a significant debt a decade ago. This sense of obligation has led her to remain single.
Ke Yuanhang, a kind and magnanimous newspaper reporter five years younger than Pan Zejia, forms a friendship with her. Despite their contrasting personalities—Pan Zejia is irritable and impatient, while Ke Yuanhang is gentle and caring—their bond deepens. However, their relationship faces obstacles beyond their differences. Pan Renyi and Ke Yuanhang's mother, Hong Ziyi, are frequent adversaries. Adding to the complexity, Pan Renyi's strained relationships with his other children are exacerbated by the sudden death of Pan Zejia's mother in a car accident.
