The **Eastern Music Chart** is an annual music awards show organized by Shanghai Broadcasting & TV Station, established in 1993. It's one of the earliest pop music charts in mainland China, honoring outstanding works and musicians each year. The 31st ceremony aired on August 26, 2024, followed by the 32nd on August 25, 2025, and the 33rd on June 29, 2026. Originally a music chart show on Shanghai Oriental Radio FM101.7, it held its first awards ceremony in February 1994. Since 1995, it has been broadcast via satellite TV to multiple Asian countries, and it entered Taiwan in 1997. In 2002, it introduced mobile voting and added a sales award category. In 2008, it adopted the "full vocals, full band" concept. In 2019, it pioneered 5G+8K+VR live broadcasting, held its first ceremony in Hainan Haikou in 2022, celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2023, and in 2025, it incorporated AI composition and virtual artist performances. The awards cover categories like Top 10 Gold Songs, Most Popular Singer, and Band/Group. In 2004, it added the "Five Strongest in Mandarin Pop" award, allowed online singers to participate in 2005, introduced the "People's Choice Award" in 2015, and collaborated with MPH Group to launch the National Animation Music Chart in 2025. The voting system combines listener votes with professional jury opinions, evolving from letter and SMS voting to online platforms.
