Joking Apart

**Joking Apart** is a BBC television comedy series written by Steven Moffat, exploring the beginning and end of a relationship. The series follows Mark and Becky as they fall in love, get married, separate, and ultimately divorce. The twelve episodes, aired between 1993 and 1995, were directed by Bob Spiers and produced by Andre Ptaszynski for the independent production company Pola Jones. The series is semi-autobiographical, drawing inspiration from Moffat's recent divorce from his first wife. Some episodes in the first season employed a non-linear parallel structure, contrasting the start and end of the relationship. Other episodes were ensemble comedies, featuring the couple's friends, Robert and Tracy. Paul Mark Elliott also appeared as Trevor, Becky's lover.
