Burлак and Okuń are professional car thieves. On a job, they steal a luxury car containing two million dollars in its trunk. The money's owners quickly track them down. Okuń is killed, and Burlak escapes. To hide, Burlak travels to a rural village where Okuń's father lives, having not seen his son since he was five. Burlak poses as his dead friend. Born in the same year and raised together in an orphanage, Burlak knows Okuń's childhood details and exploits this. The village, Yam, is a real farming community. A few years ago, a federal highway branch was built through it, turning the once-forgotten farm into a truck traffic hub.
