In a world transformed by ETHERNA—a device that enables communication with the dead through their most cherished possessions—the Ethernel team tracks down and interrogates victims' "transitional objects" to solve crimes. David Novack, a detective haunted by his wife's unsolved murder, discovers during an investigation that her killer is still alive.
