"Marriage Contract" tells the story of plain-looking rural woman Yuan Wenya, who marries the handsome "diamond man" Gao Yifan. However, after the wedding, Yuan Wenya struggles to gain acceptance from the Gao family. Her in-laws constantly make things difficult for her, even trying to push for a divorce. Gao Yifan's younger sister, Gao Wenyan, falls in love with Yuan Wenya's brother, Yuan Zhizhong, after her own heartbreak. Both families strongly oppose the union, leading to further tension. Yuan Wenya's mother takes her daughter's side, making life difficult for Gao Wenyan. Despite the challenges, Gao Yifan and Yuan Wenya not only stay married but also move out of the Gao household. Yuan Wenya finds a new job and becomes a career woman. When Gao Yifan's father, Gao Hongyuan, falls ill, Gao Yifan and Yuan Wenya reluctantly divorce. After Gao Hongyuan recovers, he finally changes his mind, and both families come together, living happily ever after.
