"Destination Truth is an American paranormal reality TV series that premiered on June 6, 2007, on Syfy. Produced by Mandt Bros. Productions and Ping Pong Productions, the show follows paranormal investigator Josh Gates as he travels the globe to explore claims of the supernatural, with a focus on cryptozoology. The third season concluded on April 21, 2010, and holds the series' highest ratings to date. It was followed by a fourth season, which began on September 9, 2010, at 9:00 PM ET/PT. The fifth season premiered on July 10, 2012."
In Papua New Guinea, Josh hunts for a mermaid-like sea creature called Ri. In the next part, he searches for a dinosaur-like beast that lurks in the jungles near the village of Tinganavudu.
