"Amanda's, an American sitcom inspired by the 1970s British series Fawlty Towers, aired on ABC from February 10 to May 26, 1983, on Thursday nights at 8:30 PM. Bea Arthur, fresh from her role in Maude, returned to series television as Amanda Cartwright, the proprietor of a seaside hotel, 'Amanda's by the Sea'. Her staff included her son Marty, his wife Arlene, chef Earl, and bellhop Aldo. The show, which featured Jerry Stiller, Leonard Stone, and Todd Susman, was filmed in front of a live studio audience at ABC Studios in Hollywood, California. Despite its promising start, Amanda's was cancelled after ten episodes, with three remaining unaired. A&E later broadcast reruns of the show."
