**Introduction** "Dark Watch" is a television series that offers a fresh perspective on the "counterespionage" story set in Jiang City, essentially a TV adaptation of "Infernal Affairs." The narrative unfolds in early 1949, following the conclusion of the Three Great Campaigns, when the Nationalist army was crumbling. On the eve of Jiang City's liberation, Chiang Kai-shek personally ordered the intelligence bureau chief, Zhao Siren, to establish a powerful spy network there, plotting a major sabotage operation codenamed "A Plan." He entrusted his confidants, "True God" and "Old Tiger," with its execution. Our intrepid hero, Zhong Xiaoqi, infiltrates the enemy ranks, ultimately securing the "Yangtze Defense and Troop Deployment Map," playing a pivotal role in Jiang City's liberation. However, the cunning "True God" uncovers Zhong's identity, leading to his "heroic sacrifice" on the eve of the city's liberation. Post-liberation, Nationalist spies orchestrate a series of sabotage activities. Unbeknownst to them, Zhong is not dead but has re-infiltrated enemy lines, engaging in fierce combat... **Conclusion** "Dark Watch" is a gripping tale of espionage and counterespionage, offering a unique take on the classic "infiltration" theme. Through Zhong Xiaoqi's character arc, the series explores themes of loyalty, sacrifice, and resilience in the face of adversity. Despite its historical setting, the story remains relevant and engaging, making it a compelling watch for fans of spy dramas.
