Parvin encounters Jalal Agha-Balakhan on the street and invites him to her friend Azar's birthday party. Jalal, a mechanic, introduces himself as Omidvar, an engineer. Parvin also claims that her father is a police colonel. Azar takes an interest in Jalal, but Bahram, Azar's friend, becomes suspicious of Jalal's true occupation and social status after seeing him in a mechanic's workshop. Bahram shares his doubts with Azar and Parvin.
