Based on Alicia Erian's provocative novel, "Tabu" tells the story of Jasira, a 13-year-old girl navigating adolescence. During the Iraq War, she lives with her American mother and her soon-to-be stepfather, who is captivated by Jasira's growing maturity. Consequently, her mother sends her to Texas to live with her strict Lebanese father, who aims to instill traditional Muslim values in her. However, Jasira struggles with her sexuality as she realizes the effect her body has on the men around her, particularly her handsome but intolerant marine neighbor. "Towelhead," also known as "Nothing Is Private," is an American drama film released in 2007. Written and directed by Alan Ball, it is an adaptation of Erian's novel of the same name. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 8, 2007, under the title "Nothing Is Private."
