In 1001, the year following the fall of the Third Reich, we witness the events through the eyes of two teenagers who discover, to their amazement, that their hometown has always been a stronghold of anti-Nazis. The year is marked by opportunism, greed, corruption, and the first, involuntarily comic attempts at practicing the newly mandated democracy. They also face the challenges of the black market and the experience of first love, making it a tumultuous, anarchic year for both boys.
