A man is found dead, his face shattered and hands burned. Strangely, the cause of death is determined to be strangulation. Detective Kaoru Utsumi, while checking the ex-wife's alibi, encounters a mysterious neighbor and uncovers only a few clues to contradict an otherwise watertight alibi.
