Detective Cooper probes the mysterious disappearance of a young assistant to a renowned writer, who is suspected of killing her. Despite witnesses to the assault, the victim's body remains missing, allowing the suspected killer to go free. Cooper's insistence on implicating the writer leads to her being removed from the case.
