1951. A small southern Italian village, inhabited solely by women. Antonio, a literature professor at a Jesuit college, returns to his hometown to attend his father's funeral, Dr. Bonadies, the village's physician and psychiatrist, who died under mysterious circumstances the day before. Determined to uncover the shadows looming over his father's past, Antonio challenges the surreal atmosphere his mother and aunt have created in their lives.
