In late 2008, the financial crisis forces many factories in China to shut down, including the shoe factory where Zhang Xiaojun works. After losing his job, he is mistaken for a thief and beaten by a supermarket security guard. Despite his pleas, the supermarket director refuses to compensate him. Zhang's lifelong dream is to return to his village and become a farmer. However, just as he's about to leave, the police arrest him. Meanwhile, the supermarket director has his own troubles. One full moon night, their paths cross at a teahouse near the city wall.
