Director Li Dazhi (played by Wu Jiahuai), once a successful filmmaker, finds himself in a career slump after his previous movies flopped at the box office. With a friend's help, he secures funding for a new project, but the investor imposes outlandish demands and introduces an actress who gets close to him, causing tension with his wife. Li's once-amiable wife reveals she has a heart condition and later detects a strange odor in their home. Li tries to reassure her, unaware that his every move is being watched. As his wife, agent, the actress, and a mysterious young girl encircle him, Li is filled with dread. Who are these people, and what do they want?
