In Paris, a young Algerian man has been struggling to make a success of himself, despite painting a rosy picture in his letters home. When his mother arrives for an extended visit, wearing her traditional attire and brimming with warmth, he finds it challenging to conceal his true circumstances and his involvement in petty crime. Despite being a fish out of water in this foreign society, she's not afraid to dive in and figure things out. As the story unfolds, the mother begins to uncover her son's secrets, but they still can't bring themselves to address the deception head-on. With a limited budget, first-time filmmaker Bahloul Bahloul weaves together satire, comedy, and pathos to tell a heartfelt story about the unbreakable bond between a mother and son, even in the face of life's many hurdles.
