Billy has it all: a beautiful home, a coveted job as a journalist, and the love of his life, Ellie. One morning, he proposes to her, but she turns him down. Billy leaves for work feeling upset, and upon his return, his beloved Ellie has vanished. She reappears three days later, drugged and with no memory of what happened. The two detectives investigating the case interview Billy, Ellie, her sister Jen, and Ryan, a colleague of Billy's, one by one. All paint a picture of a seemingly ordinary couple, offering no explanation for this strange ordeal. The arrival of Dr. Killmeade, Ellie's psychiatrist, sheds new light on the case.
