Philippe Malaiseau, a writer and historian, passed away before finishing his work on Charles le Témeraire. His publisher dispatched Marc Lancelot, Malaiseau's literary assistant, to Fontbonne in the Midi to complete the project. In Fontbonne, Marc encounters five women: Julie, a captivating and enigmatic secretary who becomes infatuated with him; Malaiseau's elderly mother, Marianne; Christine, Malaiseau's cousin; and Melissa, an Italian friend. All four women have connections to Malaiseau. Was his death merely an accident?
