Two seemingly unrelated stories intertwine. The first is inspired by Norman Mailer's novel "The Executioner's Song," based on a true crime story. Gary Gilmore, son of Mormon settlers in Utah, was executed after killing a young gas station attendant. The second story features Hungarian-born magician Harry Houdini, famous for his escape acts. The connection between these two stories is genealogical: Harry Houdini is revealed to be Gary Gilmore's grandfather.
