Veteran LAPD detective Des Flyn is killed while investigating the death of a prostitute, the crime staged to look like a motorcycle accident. Days later, rookie Cal Warner and his partner Erin are ambushed by two criminals, leaving Cal severely injured. Miraculously surviving, Cal begins acting strangely, as if possessed by another person. He gradually realizes that the spirit of Des Flyn is acting through him. With the help of Des' widow, Sara, and Erin, Cal continues the investigation to uncover the killer.
