In the grimy, post-war streets of Helsinki, Eila, a single mother of three, works at a cable factory and struggles to make ends meet. Her life is a daily battle, as she grapples with the harsh realities of raising a family in the face of poverty and hardship. This is the story of Eila and her family, a working-class household navigating life in Helsinki's Kallio district from the late 1940s to the late 1960s.
